Our Doctors

Dr. John Helton

After attending Mississippi State University for his undergraduate studies, Dr. John Helton graduated from The University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry in 1996. Following graduation, he accepted a position with Access Family Health Services in Smithville, MS. Access Family Health Services is an approved facility of the National Health Service Corps which assists in providing medical care for underserved communities across America. After three years of service, Dr. John became attached to this part of Northeast Mississippi and elected to begin a private practice a few short miles down the road in Amory, MS.

Since then, Dr. John has been providing comprehensive dental care using the most advanced techniques for all his patients. Dr. John is an active member in the American Dental Association (ADA), the Mississippi Dental Association (MDA), and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).

Dr. John spends the majority of his spare time with his wife, Shawn, and his two sons, Davis and Bryce.

While spending most of their time on the baseball and soccer fields, he and his family spend lots of time enjoying the outdoors through hunting and fishing as well. They enjoy attending all MSU sporting events and love cheering on their "Bulldawgs"! Dr. John and his family are members of First United Methodist Church in Amory and are very active in their service through the church and in their community.

Dr. Joey Helton

After completing his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2002, Dr. Joey Helton accepted the Dental Director position at Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center in Pendleton, Oregon. While at this community health clinic, he learned to appreciate the Native American culture and got to experience the Western lifestyle. In October 2005, Dr. Joey accepted an associate position with his brother, Dr. John, at Helton Family Dental Care, P.A. in Amory, Mississippi.

Together, they practice comprehensive dentistry for the entire family. Dr. Joey believes in treating patients as he wants to be treated.

Dr. Joey attended the University of South Alabama and Springhill College for his undergraduate studies. He is married to Holli Shields Helton of Amory. They enjoy occupying their time with their young son, Mason, and Boston terrier, Turbo. Dr. Joey dabbles in many hobbies including motorcycles, baseball, water sports, snow sports and reading. They enjoy participating in all that Monroe County and the surrounding areas have to offer. Dr. Joey and his wife attend First Baptist Church in Amory.

Our Staff

Amy Cox Amy has been employed with us since October of 2009. She has two children -- Cameron and Livia. She is a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Bridgett Colburn Bridgett has over ten years of experience in the dental field. She has been employed at Helton Family Dental Care, P.A. since May of 2006. She has one child, Landin Gage and is also a member of Bethel Apostolic Church in Amory.

Kelley Duncan Kelley has been working with Helton Family Dental Care, P.A. since March of 2005. Before working with us, she worked many years for Amory's Physicians and Surgeons Clinic. She has two boys, Jared and Brody.

Sandra Walls Since August 2003, Sandra has been employed with Helton Family Dental Care, P.A. Before joining our office, she worked many years in the surgical department at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Sandra and her husband, Tim, have been married thirty-two years and have one daughter, Emily. They are members of First Baptist Church of Amory.

Leslie Smaglick Leslie has been working for this office since March of 2007. She has three boys, Max, Sam, and Tyler. She is a member of First United Methodist Church of Amory.

Amber Steele Amber has been with our practice since March of 2003. She graduated from Northeast MS Community College Dental Hygiene School in 2002. She is an active member of the District 1 Dental Hygiene Association and served as President for the 2007-2009 term. She is from Pontotoc and lives in Belden.  She has one daughter, Addie Grace. Amber is a member of Longview Baptist Church.

Shawn Helton Shawn has been employed at Helton Family Dental Care, P.A. since 1999. She is married to Dr. John, and they have two sons, Davis and Bryce. Her duties at the office include, but are not limited to, accounting, payroll, public relations, and any other responsibilities dealing with the day-to-day operations of the office. She is an active member in the Parent Teacher Organizations at both of her children's schools Amory Middle and East Amory Elementary Schools. She is also active in her church, First United Methodist in Amory, by serving as the bookkeeper for their preschool. She is also active in the Amory community by serving on the Board of Directors at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center and is a member of Amory's Fidelia Club.

Tina Williams Tina has been with Helton Family Dental Care since October 2011.  Tina was previously employed at a Chiropractic clinic in Columbus, MS where she handled public relations.  Tina is now responsible for public relations along with front office duties at our office.  She loves working in the public and meeting new people.  She has three children, daughters Kelsey and Briana and a son, Reed.  She is happily married to Doug Williams, and her family attends River Bend Baptist Church in Aberdeen, MS.

Mallory Eaton Mallory Eaton is a member of our Hygiene department.  She has been a hygienist since 2005, when she graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene.  Before attending UMC, she also attended Mississippi State University and Itawamba Community College.  She is a member of Fulton United Methodist Church in her hometown of Fulton, MS.  She currently lives there with her favorite Jack Russell Terrier, Georgia.

Beth Schmoock Beth is the newest member of our front office staff.  Beth and her husband live in Becker and have been married for 17 years.  They have two children, Hannah and Andrew.  She enjoys watching her children play soccer, baseball and tennis.  She is a member of Lifepointe Church in Amory.

Hope Haney Hope joined Helton Family Dental Care's front office staff as our Office Manager in March 2012.  She comes to us with 9 years’ experience in the dental field.  She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and watching her nephew, Bryce, play baseball.  She is an active member of First Baptist Church in Aberdeen where she works with the youth group.

Rose Collins Rose Collins comes to us from Red Bay, AL.  She has joined our team as a part-time Hygienist.

Robyn Evans Robyn joined the hygiene team at Helton Family Dental Care in June 2012.  She graduated from Northeast MS Community College in 2010, and has worked in the Columbus area until joining our team.  She is married to Justin Evans, and they live in Hamilton, MS.  She and Justin attend Hamilton Baptist Church.
